Kamagaya

Kamagaya is a city in the west of Chiba prefecture, Japan, where it borders the cities of Matsudo and Kashiwa to the north, Shiroi to the east, Funabashi to the south and Ichikawa to the west.

What to see

Kamagaya Great Buddha

Japanese: 鎌ヶ谷大仏 - Kamagaya Daibutsu

The Kamagaya Great Buddha, erected 1776, with a height of 1.8 metres is the smallest of the close to 100 Great Buddha (大仏 - daibutsu) statues in Japan. As it sits on a pedestal and by the sitting posture it is nonetheless much bigger than a human.

Opening hours: As it is located outdoors it is open 24 hours.

Directions: From Kamagaya-Daibutsu Station it is just a 1 minute walk. Take the exit on the station's north side, turn right away from the railway crossing and after 50 metres it is on the left side of the road just opposite the Kamagaya Hachiman Shrine.

Directions: From Kamagaya-Daibutsu Station it is just a 1 minute walk. Take the exit on the station's north side, turn right away from the railway crossing and after 50 metres it is on the right side of the road just opposite the Kamagaya Daibutsu.

Hiking Shinkeisei 40: Kunugiyama Station

"Walking along the Shin-Keisei line part II, from Kunugiyama to Takanekōdan"

(くぬぎ山駅から高根公園駅へ 新京成線に沿って歩くみち Part.Ⅱ - Kunugiyama-eki kara Takanekōdan-eki e Shinkeisei-sen ni sotte aruku michi pātsu. II)

A hiking course from Kunugiyama Station to Takanekōdan Station on the Shin-Keisei Line operated by Shin-Keisei Electric Railway. The tour and poster is from an organised event held on April 13, 2013 and recognised by the Japanese Volkssport Association (JVA) (日本市民スポーツ連盟 - Nihon shimin supōtsu renmei).
